MESSAGE REGARDING RACIAL HARMONY DAYDear Students,
In Commemoration of this year’s Racial Harmony Day on the 21st of
July, the Student National Education Committee has planned some
exciting festivities for you to take part in:
1. To celebrate diversity right here in Hwa Chong, the four newly
formed faculty committees will be setting up food stalls in the
canteen from Wednesday-Friday selling ethnic foods.
2.
Students are also encouraged to dress up in ethnic costumes this
Friday!
Guidelines for dressing up:
(i) Only the wearing of distinctively ethnic costume/ traditional
costumes (e.g. Kimono of the Japanese) is allowed
(ii) NO wearing of:
- T-shirts
- Tank tops (including spaghetti-strap tops, strapless tops and
singlets)
- Shorts or bermudas
- Skirts with a hemline that is more than 4cm above the knee
- Home clothes (eg. Pajamas, anything that can be considered
sleepwear)
- Dirty or torn garments
(iii) Sandals will be accepted as footwear
(iv) No images/language that is insensitive to other races or
religions
(v) Tutors will check students' attire during morning assembly,
with the assistance of members of the Discipline Committee and ACs.
(vi) Offending students will be asked to borrow school uniforms
and/or purchase a PE T-shirt from the Students Council to change
into.
There will be
Best Dressed Class, Student as well as Teacher awards!
Do submit photos of yourself, your classes or even your tutor to
snec07@gmail.com and stand a chance to win great prizes. Submission
closes on the 21st of July and results will be posted on the SNEC
Board the next week. Winners will also be notified.
3. A games carnival will be held in the inner and central plaza at
4:00pm on Friday afternoon. Take part in exciting ethnic games like
Sepak Takraw and Skipping Rope, or even rent a kite!
